SURREALIST ARTIST Chris Wake VIA saatchiART/ARTCW

Chris Wake has had 18 solo and 40 group exhibitions and has been painting since a very young age. and her work is represented in many private and corporate collections in Australia and throughout the world. She has exhibited in Monaco, South Africa, Singapore, New York, Hong Kong, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, India.  Publications include Australian Art Collector Magazine, Australian Artist, Country Style, The Advertiser Newspaper, Adelaide Matters, SA Life, South China Post, Baccarat Magazine and more. Chris now also paints portraits & family portraits by commission and sends them all over the world, creating a unique , special family heirloom that will last hundreds of years. Chris is also represented by Saatchi Gallery and sells mostly online now and is quite often selected by the head curator to be featured as artist of the day worldwide or in a particular collection.

For those interested in the secondary market, her paintings have sold at auction giving collectors the potential to sell at auction if need be at a later date. These modern, figurative oil paintings are almost a kind of pop art, irreverent, wild, quirky but fun and bring a positive influence into any room. Wake uses only the very best quality materials, artist quality light fast paints, Belgium linen and museum quality stretcher bars to ensure the paintings last for many hundreds of years to come.

"Inspiration for my paintings comes from various directions –in particular I have always enjoyed expressing light - its elusive quality still challenges me.   I am always observing others, and i am very interested in how people interact with each other –everywhere I go whether it is at a gathering, beach or food market ,I am always observing.  In Adelaide we have an arts festival called the Fringe which is an apt description because the performers are on the edge of convention and their art is a considerable distance away from conservatism. There are clowns, acrobats, comedians, musicians and extraverts providing me with fantastic fodder for my work. I find inspiration for my compositions in the theatre: operas, musicals, plays concerts evoke my imagination from a voyeuristic point of view, just as I hope to stimulate those who come to this exhibition.  This eclectic mix of performance and behaviour pervades my thoughts and constantly swims around in my head."  Excerpt from editorial Baccarat Magazine, Hong Kong.

Chris Wake also paints smaller figurative beach scenes in a more traditional style.

Chris Wake is represented by fine art galleries in Australia and Internationally.
